Soft-Hearted People Are Often The Bravest

Nurudeen Ushawu once said, “Be soft, don’t let the world make you hard. Be gentle, don’t let the people make you difficult. Be kind, don’t let the realities of life steal your sweetness and make you heartless.”

It seems ironic to live in a generation wherein society appreciates kindness and compassion, and yet they also influence us to be someone else. Perhaps this is why soft-hearted people feel they do not fit in in a world that is trying to make us hard, difficult and heartless. But what does it feel like to be soft-hearted when people see them as a weak person?

Soft-hearted people are not ignorant to not know that everyone sees them as a weak person and how they are being exploited. But they are the bravest for still being themselves. Although they may always be taken for granted, these people will always give out a helping hand. Not that they are always available, but they will always set aside their own problems to give way to others.

They are the ones who carry the problems of the world, the ones who cry in the middle of the night while thinking of their friends’ problems, their family’s problems, even society’s problems, aside from their own. And as if they are not afraid to be hurt, they still choose to be kind.

As a reflection of their character, they give out kindness even to those who don’t deserve it. Despite being taken advantage of, soft-hearted people always choose to forgive. It is an attribute seen as a weakness and although it may seem absurd, soft-hearted people will still choose to do it. Not because they were not hurt, but because they believe that forgiveness is not something you do for others, but it is something you do for yourself. And by not forgiving, you destroy yourself.

Through forgiving, they have built peace within themselves, and it has served as a strong foundation to their resilience.

Soft-hearted people have failed many times. They have been turned down, neglected and exploited, and these are the times they thought the world has turned its back to them, and maybe it’s true. But what is fascinating is that they may cling to sadness, but soft-hearted should never be misinterpreted with faint-hearted, because these people are brave that they choose not to quit and escape, but to still pursue and not give up.

Soft-hearted people may give in to emotions easily, but they always strive to find happiness.

It is their soft heart that makes them bend, and never break. Lastly, soft-hearted people are the ones who feel the pain too much that they tend to succumb to it and take a longer time to heal.

But in the process of healing, they’ll always end up with a solution– to get up once again with the urge to spread kindness, cultivate peace, and radiate happiness, despite their vulnerability with the adversities of the world.

And no matter how painful it would get, they would choose to do it over and over again. And by that, they are the bravest.
