You’re Going To Feel Weak Sometimes – And That’s Okay

Sometimes you’ll have days when you feel strong. When the ground beneath your feet is firm. When each step feels straight and secure. When you walk with your head high and eyes bright. When you feel prepared to take on anything that comes you way. When you feel confident and purposeful.

But sometimes the world will shift under your feet. Sometimes you’ll lose your footing or feel confused. Sometimes it’ll all feel like a dream – where you can’t distinguish earth from sky and everything’s spinning, spinning.

Sometimes you’ll wake up and question everything from the weather to your purpose to who you are. You’ll feel different, off, guarded, afraid. You’ll walk with your spine curved, head low. You’ll walk as if you are directionless. You’ll walk with no set destination.

You’ll feel weak.

But what is both terrible and beautiful about the world we live in—it’s forever moving, forever orbiting, forever changing. We are never stagnant, never stuck, never still. We are continually evolving, growing, moving, becoming.

And those moments you feel weak? They are a natural process on the way to finding your strength again.

Sometimes your bones will feel tired. Sometimes your body will be bruised. Sometimes your heart will ache from painful words or actions from the people around you. Sometimes you’ll wonder whether you can even continue. But I promise you will.

Because even in your temporary failure, even in your momentary fragility – you are still a powerful creation, still a beautiful heart, still a fierce and determined soul.

And in this weakness, you will overcome.

You will feel weak at times – this is natural. You will be tired, physically and mentally. You will be drained by work and human interaction and trying to figure out what to do next. You will be exhausted by the ways of the world, by the negative news you hear on the radio, by the terrible way we humans treat another.

But you will take a deep breath and re-ground yourself. You will smile. You will laugh with a stranger or friend. You will let go of what you cannot control. You will choose to see light.

And you will grow strong from that weakness, and begin again.

So stop feeling that your weakness means you’re not good enough. Stop feeling inadequate or flawed or faulty or deficient. Stop feeling that you are less, just for being human.

Because weakness is like anything in this life – fleeting.
And soon you will regain your wings, and take flight again.
