Jalingo, Taraba State, Nigeria. Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, today commissioned the N6.8 Billion naira Jalingo water expansion project at Mile six, the Jalingo-Kona road and the N2 billion Jalingo Greenhouse all in Jalingo, Nigeria’s Taraba State. The Vice President who touched down at the Jalingo Airport before noon was accompanied by Minister of Women Affairs, Sen. Aisha Alhassan and received by the Taraba state governor, Arc. Darius Ishaku, his deputy, Haruna Manu, members of the state EXCO, supporters of both PDP and APC and a mammoth crowd who thronged the major highways.
Jalingo city is in a standstill and businesses suspended in order to receive the august visitor.
Speaking at the commissioning of the the AfDB/World Bank funded Mile six water project, the Taraba state Commissioner of Water Resources, Barr. Emmanuel Gowon, stated that the project was initiated in 2012 with a total capacity of 30,870,000,000 liters and that N6.8 Billion has been sunk to supply water to Jalingo for the next 20 years. He added that nine of such projects were also constructed.

The entourage also proceeded to Road block, venue of the commissioning of the 6.5km Jalingo- Kona- Lau road phase 1.
While comissioning the projects, Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo said ‘’ Taraba state can actually feed the whole of Nigeria, their vegetable is one of a kind. We can even export vegetables from here to the rest of Africa, not forgetting tea, coffee and rice’’.
‘’ Taraba can also provide high quality jobs for our young people. I was opportune to take pictures with some young agriculturists and I must say I am very happy they have found something useful to do. I also met with one Irrigation expert by the name Zachari and I was impressed with the hardwork he has put into his job. ’’ The Vice President opined.
