American Music Awards Wrap-up

by Kim Boateng Posted on October 10th, 2018

Los Angeles, California, USA : The American Music Awards were held in Los Angeles on Tuesday night and  Taylor Swift and Camila Cabello are at the forefront of the winners with four awards each.

The public-voting-based award show was first created in 1973 for ABC network after their contract to air the Grammy Awards expired.

There were a number of performances throughout the night; most notably was Cardi B, Bad Bunny & J Balvin’s “I Like It” with an absolutely gorgeous set.

Dua Lipa also performed a mashup of her hits “One Kiss” and “Electricity.”

The show, however, wasn’t limited to just entertainment. While receiving her Best Artist Award, Taylor Swift chose to get political at the end of her speech by encouraging Americans to vote for the upcoming midterm elections.

The show ended with a tribute to the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin, who passed away in August.

The following is a list of this year’s nominees and winners. Taylor Swift has become the most awarded female artist in AMAs history, after winning all 4 awards she was nominated for: Artist of the Year, Tour of the Year, Favorite Female Artist & Favorite Album – Pop/Rock.
