Indio, California, USA: Beyoncé, headlined this year’s Coachella music festival with a scintillating performance that topped even the loftiest of expectations in what can be likened to the best of a pep rally, dance recital, second line, revival, homecoming, block party, movie, play and an opera all rolled into one.

Take your pick from Destiny’s Child reunion (after 12 years) , a Solange Knowles dance collaboration, stepping and marching bands, Malcolm X quotes, Nina Simone samples, Jigga for the deja vu and much more as Queen Bey lit up her “Beyhive” fanbase. Beyoncé and Band also paid homage to Fela Kuti during her set at the world’s biggest music festival, Coachella.

The terms “Beyonce,” “#Beychella” and “#DestinysChild” dominated Twitter’s trending topics,Sunday..

After over an hour performing an elaborate medley of some her biggest hits — complete with a marching band accompaniment and husband and ‘OTR II’ tour partner Jay-Z joining to perform their hit, Déjà Vu — Beyonce reunited onstage with Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, her Destiny’s Child colleagues.

A DJ Khaled voiceover during the performance declared that after Beyoncé was done they’d have to rename the yearly festival “Beychella.” Judging by the Internet’s reaction, it seems like many would agree.

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is an annual music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, located in the Inland Empire’s Coachella Valley in the Colorado Desert.
