Bangladesh Police Raid “Nigerian Prince” Syndicate. Nab 5

SAVAR, BANGLADESH. Five Nigerians have been arrested in Savar, Bangladesh, for alleged fraud and cyber-crime according to a Bangladesh Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) report. A team of officers from the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) apprehended and detained the suspects after raiding their house at Alamnagar Sugandhya Housing at Hemayutpur area, the report said.

Following a tip-off, the PBI team led by additional superintendent of police, ARM Alif, conducted the raid in the house in the afternoon.
The police also seized four laptops, 11 mobile phones, 20 SIM cards, some pen-drives and cash.

“The detained Nigerian citizens have been residing in the rented flat for a year. They are members of a syndicate who snaffled a huge amount of money alluring people with fraud,” the police said.

Recall tha 4 Nigerians were among 5 people earlier arrested over digital scam. It that case, members of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) detained five people, including four Nigerian nationals, from Mirpur area in Dhaka.


Nigerians arrested in Bangladesh

The detainees are Mohammad Auwalu Adamu, Odibobhahemen James, Olorunfemi Daniel, Mohammad Adamu and Joyon Ara Riya. DMP DC Media Maruf Hossain Sardar told the Dhaka Tribune they were detained in connection to a case filed over a digital scam on Sunday night. The case was filed under the ICT Act, he said.
