KevinJansonNeal : Trump Tweets Condolences About Wrong MassShooting

U.S. President Donald Trump set Twitter on fire late Tuesday after he sent condolences to the victims of the mass shooting – at the Rancho Tehama Elementary School in northern California earlier in the day – but the president instead referenced the wrong massacre (Sutherland Springs, the location where a gunman slaughtered 26 people at a small Texas church more than a week ago).

Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump: “May God be with the people of Sutherland Springs, Texas. The FBI and Law Enforcement has arrived,” Trump tweeted Tuesday, November 14.

The tweet was timestamped at 11:34 p.m. and remained live as of early Wednesday morning. It was deleted around eight hours later.

Kevin Janson Neal, 44, opened fire in a series of shootings in rural California early Tuesday killing six people and injuring at least 10 others. A day later, the Tehama County assistant sheriff said the gunman’s wife was found dead in their home, bringing the death toll to six.

The shooting was likely triggered by a dispute between the suspect and his neighbour, but escalated into what Tehama County Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston dubbed a “bizarre and murderous rampage,” with Kevin Janson Neal firing at people at random before making his way to a school and firing shots there.

Kevin Janson Neal was later shot dead by police, Johnston said. No children were killed in the shootings, but at least one was injured.

On Nov. 5, Devin Patrick Kelley opened fire on the church before dying of what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

May God be w/ the people of Sutherland Springs, Texas. The FBI & law enforcement are on the scene. I am monitoring the situation from Japan. Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 5, 2017

“May God be w/ the people of Sutherland Springs, Texas. The FBI & law enforcement are on the scene. I am monitoring the situation from Japan,” Trump tweeted the same day of the church shooting.

People online were quick to express their anger over the blunder:

“Jesus, he copy pasted his response to a mass shooting and forgot to change the location. What a clown.”

CK (@charley_ck14) : Pretty sad when there are so many mass shootings that you just use the same generic tweet to respond to them all.

Shannon Coulter (@shannoncoulter) : Today the president of the United States couldn’t remember and didn’t even bother to check where the country’s most recent mass shooting took place.

Jared Yates Saxton (@JYSaxton) : This shooting took place ten days ago.

Name cannot be blank @cadillaccannon : Did u just copy & paste this & forget to change the city?

kim @hopewell711 : My God be with the people of [insert next mass shooting location here]. The FBI and Law Enforcement *have* (correct grammar mine) arrived. #GunControlNow #TrumpIsAMoron

Matt McDermott ✔ @mattmfm :The President of the United States is tweeting at midnight about the wrong mass shooting and it’s like the 500th most insane Trump story of the week.

Josh Sánchez ✔ @jnsanchez : No way. I thought people were joking. Donald Trump actually did tweet about the wrong mass shooting. Good lord. I know he’s not the brightest, but it’s wild we have such a big issue that POTUS can mix up the tragedies.

Shannon Ritenour @ShannonRitenour : Trump just tweeted again about the church shooting in Sutherland Springs. The 1st tweet was the day of the event, 9 days ago. Is this his shooting tweet template? He forgot to change the location to today’s shooting: California.

Jason McMillan @Jason_McMillan7 : Jesus, he copy pasted his response to a mass shooting and forgot to change the location. What a clown.

And, the FBI and Law Enforcement HAVE arrived.

Sarah Kendzior ✔ @sarahkendzior : 1. We have too many mass shootings. ONE is too many. 2. That’s no excuse for a POTUS confusing them. Care lessness is callousness. 3. Trump’s done nothing to address root causes. His presence exacerbates the situation.

Mother Resister @MotherResister : Donald’s template for a white male shooter, usually with history of domestic violence:
May God be with the people of <City, State>. The FBI and Law Enforcement has arrived.

M Sherrill @m_sherrill : You are the worst. The shooting today was in Northern California. I hope that the FBI and law enforcement arrived in Texas earlier than today

Chuck Groundhog @only_si_chuck : The FBI and Law Enforcement are slow. Your tweet verifies that it is time for #GunControlNow.

Laura Meacham Keane @lauramkeane : May God be with the people of Bowling Green. The FBI and Law Enforcement has arrived.

sarah amy harvard ✔ @amyharvard_ : May God be with the people in the War of 1812. The FBI and Law Enforcement has arrived. https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/930655291569524736 …

ThatBish. @JaideKennedy : Your president can’t even use proper grammar .. “The FBI and law enforcement HAVE arrived.”

Kathy @sweethomekate : “The FBI and law enforcement have arrived.” Why is the correct usage of grammar beyond the reach of this man?!

Reggie Martin ???? @unrealReg : Sutherland Springs must be hard to find, since it took 9 days for the FBI and Law Enforcement to arrive.

Frank Luntz ✔ @FrankLuntz : The shooting in Sutherland Springs happened on November 5th, which was 9 days ago.

I hope the FBI and law enforcement didn’t take that long to arrive.
