Man arrested in NYC subway train attack on elderly, homeless woman

New York City: Marc Gomez, a 36-year-old man has been arrested for what police say was a vicious attack on an elderly, homeless woman on a New York City subway train. Marc Gomez faced charges Saturday of assault and harassment.

Police say the 78-year-old woman was riding a No. 2 Bronx-bound train on March 10 at about 3 a.m. when he kicked and punched her repeatedly in the face and body.

The woman left the train at the next stop and was met by emergency medical staff who treated her for cuts to the face, bleeding and swelling.

A witness captured the attack on videotape that went viral on Twitter.
