The Village, Oklahoma: Charges have been filed against Lynn Little, a man who authorities said had been living with his father’s corpse for months at their home in The Village.

According to police, family members from out of state attempted to check on the elderly man many times over several months. When they talked to the man’s son, 50-year-old Lynn Little, Little allegedly would tell them his father “was sleeping or was not feeling well and did not want to be bothered.”

Officers said they responded to the home on Jan. 12 and found out that the Little’s father had been dead for some time, and Little had been staying in the home with the body the entire time.

The man was found dead in his bedroom “in an advanced state of decomposition,” court documents stated. He was “covered with bugs and appeared to no longer have eyes.”

Little told police his father had died before Thanksgiving. He admitted that his father went into his bedroom one day and never came out. He said he intentionally avoided going near the room.

During the investigation, police said they learned Little had been writing checks from the victim’s trust account and signing the victim’s name. He admitted he had signed the victim’s name, telling investigators he “needed the money.”

Police said from January to Aug. 22, 2018, Little’s father signed six checks that were written to Little, with all but two of those checks having been written by Little. Furthermore, from Aug. 30, 2018, to Jan. 12 2019, Little wrote 19 checks, totaling $5,775, to himself, while forging the victim’s signature, according to police.

Little was charged Thursday with neglect by a caretaker, desecration of a human corpse and forgery and embezzlement.
