St. Louis, Missouri: A father, Gayron D. Sloan, has been charged with child endangerment after his 14-month-old child became unresponsive at day care and had to be taken to a hospital.

The boy had fentanyl and cocaine in his system and was resuscitated Tuesday with the help of Narcan, a treatment that combats the effects of opioids, charges said.

Gayron D. Sloan, 38, was ordered held on the child endangerment charge with bail set at $10,000.

Sloan told investigators he sells fentanyl and cocaine and stores the drugs at his home in the 3800 block of Illinois Avenue, according to charges.

Authorities did not name the day care where the child became ill Tuesday. Staffers there had him taken to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital after he became unresponsive, charges say.
