Stafford, Virginia: Weddings can get expensive. Especially when you want to look your best. Vanessa Cline, a Virginia woman went out of her way to make sure her big day was perfect — including buying a nice gown, hiring a wedding planner and getting cosmetic surgery to enhance her butt.
And she funded it all by allegedly embezzling more than $93,000 from her employer.
Stafford, Va., resident Vanessa Cline was arrested and charged with embezzlement, accused of stealing the funds from No Limits Construction where she was a bookkeeper.
The 32-year-old woman reportedly spent $2,000 on a bridal gown, $25,000 to hire a wedding planner and $7,200 for a butt lift procedure at Elite Plastic Surgery of Miami. All were allegedly paid using the company’s credit card.
On top of that, Cline allegedly forged five checks totaling about $10,000 along with purchasing other items such as plane tickets, furniture, an ATV and clothing with the company’s credit card, the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office stated.
Police say the construction firm learned of the alleged embezzling after being tipped off by the credit card company about lack of payments.
Cline was charged with five counts of embezzlement, forgery and uttering. The bride was housed booked at Rappahannock Regional Jail before being released on $8,000 bond.
Ironically, Cline was hired by the contruction company to replace another bookkeeper who had pleaded guilty to embezzling $150,000 over a two-year-period, cops say.
