Disgraced Ex Boston Cardinal Bernard Law Dies In Rome

Vatican : The Fifth Archbishop of Boston, most powerful of American prelates, signal figure of the gravest crisis US Catholic Church has ever known, Bernard Cardinal Law died at Midnight Wednesday in Rome at 86.

Former Cardinal Bernard Law  resigned in disgrace as archbishop in 2002 amid the investigation into the abuse of children in the Boston Catholic Archdiocese.The pedophile priest scandal  was highlighted in the film “Spotlight.”

Following his resignation, Law remained with the church, working in tthe pedophile priest scandal seen in the film “Spotlight.”he Vatican.

,Archpriest of St Mary Major, Law,  was criticized heavily for protecting priests accused of molesting children. Rev. John Geoghan, ultimately convicted of abusing more than 130 boys, was allowed to transfer to a new parish, the allegations against him and other priests kept in secret files.

Goeghan was removed from the priesthood in 1998. In 2002, he was sentenced to nine to 10 years in prison. One year in, he was murdered behind bars.
