28 Gay Men Arraigned In Lagos For Allegedly Engaging In Homosaxual Acts

The Lagos State Police command on Thursday, August 3, 2017 arraigned 28 gay men before the Yaba Magistrate Court for allegedly engaging in homosaxuality. This is coming after forty two gay men were arrested for allegedly engaging in homosaxual acts in a Lagos Hotel.

42 Gay Men Arrested For Homosaxual Acts In Lagos Hotel – Nigeria Police

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Olarinde Famous-Cole, says the Nigeria police arrested no fewer than 42 gay men allegedly involved in homosaxual acts at a hotel at Weigh Bridge in Owode Onirin area of Lagos State on Saturday. According to the police spokesman, the hotel, Vincent Hotel, where they were caught in the act had been sealed off. He added that the suspects had been handed over to the state task force for prosecution.

He said,

“It is true. About 42 suspected homosaxuals were arrested and the hotel has been condoned off while investigation continues. They are in custody of the Lagos State Task Force and will be charged to court soon.”

A resident of the area, who gave his name only as Tunji, said policemen from the Owode Onirin Division swooped on the suspects around 3.30 pm.
He said,

“There have been reports that the hotel harbours homosaxuals. They were there this afternoon when policemen struck. About 42 of them were caught in the act.”
