Father Of Hollywood Actress Lupita Nyong’o Elected Governor In Kenya

Prof. Anyanga Nyongo, father of Hollywood Actress Lupita Nyong’o has won the governorship election for Kisumu County in Kenya. He defeated his rivals, Jackton Ramguma and Christine Otieno to win. His world famous daughter, Lupita Nyong’o had campaigned for her father months before the election took place. In a 2.49 minute-long video shared via her Facebook page, the ’12 Years a Slave’ actress beckoned on electorates of the state to vote for her father through an impassioned appeal. The video has been viewed over 300,000 times and shared more than 800 times on Facebook.

At 83% of the polling stations reporting. Prof. Anyanga Nyongo got 252, 490 which is 63% while Jackton Ramguma got 141, 320 which represents 36% and Christine Otieno got 1919 representing less than 1% of total votes cast.

With 37, 318 polling stations out of 40883 of the polling stations reporting, President Uhuru Kenyatta is leading his rival, Raila Odinga by 10.1% of the votes cast. At 7, 546, 262 that is 54.57% while Raila Odinga is at 6, 164, 403 at 44.58% of the votes.

Although the actress had earlier said she wouldn’t be able to make it down for the election due to a new movie she is working on, she told her father, “I support your bid to be governor of Kisumu county…you can count on my prayers and my support from afar”.

In the presidential election, incumbent Uhuru Kenyatta has so far taken a majority of the votes, coasting home to victory ahead of Raila Odinga.
