Playboy Founder Hugh Heffner Became Deaf From Too Much Vaagra – Widow, Reports

Hugh Hefner’s 31-year-old widow Crystal Harris said that taking too much Vaagra made her husband lose his hearing during a 2011 radio interview. Harris was being interviewed on Howard Stern’s show weeks after breaking off her first engagement to the Playboy magnate when she made the claim. At the time, she had unexpectedly broken up with Hefner, who was then aged 85, in June 2011 – five days before their wedding ceremony.

Hugh Heffner, the ladies’ man was notorious for popping Vaagra — a prescription medicine used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction and impotence in men.

“Hefner ate Vaagra like sweets in order to maintain his very active sax life,”  Independent reported.
“The pills, which have been linked in studies to sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSHL), apparently left him almost deaf in one ear, and completely deaf in the other,” two of his female consorts have said.

“You have to lean down and talk into his good ear for him to understand you,” one of his former twin girlfriends, Karissa Shannon, said. “We could sit right next to him and he wouldn’t have a clue what we said.”

But it seems this didn’t give Hefner pause or leave him with any regret, with Karissa adding: “He said he would rather have sax than have his hearing.”

Addressing a 2011 report on links between hearing loss and Vaagra, the NHS writes: “SSHL is a rare, emergency condition caused by damage to the inner ear structures, which can lead to permanent hearing loss.

“The study found 47 cases of hearing loss associated with taking this class of drug. Two-thirds of these cases occurred within 24 hours of taking the drug.”

Playboy Enterprises announced Wednesday that Hefner had died in the Playboy Mansion from natural causes. Playboy magazine was founded by Hefner more than 60 years ago as an upscale men’s magazine, combining images of nude women with in-depth articles, literature and interviews.

“Hugh M. Hefner, the American icon who, in 1953, introduced the world to Playboy magazine and built the company into one of the most recognisable American global brands in history, peacefully passed away today from natural causes at his home, The Playboy Mansion, surrounded by loved ones,” Playboy confirmed in a statement. “He was 91 years old.”

Hugh Marston Hefner was born on 9 April , 1926, to strict Methodist parents. The eldest of two brothers, he served two years in the Army during World War II before finding a job at Esquire as a copywriter.

Playboy Founder Hugh Hefner Will Lie Next To Marilyn Monroe

Playboy Enterprises Inc Hugh Hefner will be laid to rest in the crypt next to Marilyn Monroe’s, at the Westwood Memorial Park in Los Angeles. One of the earliest triumphs of the Playboy founder’s career was featuring Marilyn Monroe in the first edition of the magazine in December 1953. The edition featured Monroe on the cover, with a n**e of hers published inside. That copy sold 50,000 copies.

Playboy magazine gained a lot from the publicity around this edition, and went on to have nearly seven million subscribers by 1954. It was clear from his lifelong obsession with blonde beauties that Hugh Hefner admired this iconic American actor.

Marilyn Monroe died in 1962 after a drug overdose, and was buried at the Westwood crypt. The prices for the crypts around her went up immediately, and Hefner was one of the many men who vied for a spot near the actor.

Hugh Hefner purchased the crypt next to Marilyn Monroe in 1992 at a whopping USD 75,000. After his death, this is exactly the place where he will be laid to rest.

One can’t help but imagine what a fitting farewell it would be. The man who made sure he was surrounded by beautiful women all through his life will lie next to the most popular pin-up beauty of America, even in death.
