Hyderabad, India: 19-year-old Agubgbue Chidiebube Chukwuma and his female friend Sunday Priscillia Oluchi Ujunwa were arrested, both Nigerians, were arrested with drugs, by Rachakonda police On the eve of New Year as they planed to put the drugs for sale to New Year party revellers.
The drugs seized from the couple included following their arrest included 16 grams of cocaine and, 23 grams of heroin, 40 grams of Alprazolam, 15 grams of Amphetamine and one kilo gram of ganja (marijuana). The accused were
The two were intercepted when they were travelling in Maruti Swift car and during the checking of the accused and their vehicle, the police found the drugs in their possession.
During the investigation, the police came to know that the couple were on their way to supply the drug to some needy persons for their New Year celebrations. The couple actually procured the contraband from another Nigerian national, Benjamin, a resident of Towlichowki. Benjamin is declared absconding by police.
“The accused procured the drugs from Benajamin, who is a common friend for the arrested two Nigerians. They used to procure 1 gram of cocaine per Rs. 20,000 and sells the same each gram for Rs. 40,000 to Rs 50,000. The arrested accused were prepared to dispose the drugs on occasion of New Year 2018,” Rachakonda Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said.
“Many times I noticed, the police arrest the Nigerians with drugs, but never heard the arrest of the sources from where they get the drugs. We always heard the end of the chain, but not the start…”
The accused Agubgbue is a native of Lagos state and he came to Hyderabad on student visa to do B.Sc n PG College, Secunderabad. While Sunday came to city to do Bachelor of Pharmacy and two have been staying together at Jawahar Nagar. The total seized contraband is worth Rs 16.70 lakh.
Meanwhile, in the ongoing investigation by Prohibition and Excise sleuths about the nexus between drug peddlers and some Tollywood personalities, the key accused Calvin, who is accused of supplying drugs to some Tollywood personalities and school children, was granted conditional bail by a local court and he was released from prison on Sunday.
