Koforidua, Ghana: Residents of Ghana’s Eastern Regional capital of Koforidua woke up on Saturday morning to see their river running ‘blood’ red, although according to them, the river was normal the night before.

The cause of this change in color has not been confirmed, however it has been speculated that a chemical component from any of the factories in the area could be a factor.

The police unit in Koforidua have reportedly been alerted to the strange occurrence and are said to be investigating the matter.

Many have linked the situation of water turning blood red to a sign of end times due to the fact that a verse in The Bible, Revelation states that waters would turn blood red when the end comes.

Revelation 8:8–9: “The second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a huge mountain, all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned into blood, a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.”

However, others believe that the blood red water is the effect of pollution from chemicals or daily lives of residents.
