Information Minister – President Buhari Needs Rest. To Continue Working From Home. Federal Government has said that President Muhammadu Buhari will from now operate from home.

President Muhammadu Buhari is today conspicuously absent at the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting. The meeting was presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

The cabinet had awaited the president’s arrival until the State House Chief of Protocols suddenly stepped in at 11.00am and whispered to Osinbajo. A security officer had also stood anxiously behind the president’s official seat in expectation of Buhari’s attendance.

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed while briefing State House correspondents at the end of the meeting of the Federal Executive Council, FEC on Wednesday said that the President needed some rest and has asked that all the files on his table be brought to him at his official residence at the Presidential Villa, Abuja for treatment.

Buhari was not at the FEC meeting. He delegated Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to function in his place.

Yinka Odumakin, the National Publicity Secretary of Afenifere on Wednesday said Nigerians didn’t elect President Muhammadu Buhari to work at home.

He was reacting to a statement by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed who told State House correspondents that the President needed some rest and has asked that all the files on his table be brought to him at his official residence at the Presidential Villa, Abuja for treatment.

Odumakin said if the president’s situation has gotten to a level where he will be working from home, it shows something is wrong which Nigerians are not told.

“We elected a president who will work from office not from home. If it gets to a situation where he will be working from home, then the interest of the country requires taking a hard look at the situation and taking the right decision. It shows something is wrong somewhere”.
Also reacting to Buhari’s absence at the Federal Executive Council meeting for the third time since his return from his medical trip to the UK on Wednesday, ex Presidential aide Reno Omokri called on President Muhammadu Buhari to handover power to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

He said if President Buhari is sick he should hand over to Osinbajo, as it is hypocritical for the government to penalize ghost workers while the country has a Ghost President.
