Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari will be working from home for 3 months after his office was hijacked and damaged by rats while he was away for his 153 days medical vacation in London according to his special adviser on media and publicity Garba shehu. Garba Shehu added that the office required renovation after damage was done by the rats to the furniture and air conditioning in his absence.
Shehu was quoted to have said, “following the three months period of disuse, rodents have caused a lot of damage to the furniture and the air conditioning units.”
Since it was reported that president Muhammadu Buhari will spend three months working from home after his office was damaged by rats, Nigerians have not rested in making mockery of the situation considering how such a highly guarded place could be infiltrated by mere rodents.
A former Aviation Minister and spokesperson, Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organization, Femi Fani Kayode has stated that even rats in Nigeria don’t want President Muhammadu buhari back.
“In 1985 Buhari was evicted from his office by patriotic and courageous soldiers. In 2017 he was driven from his office by patriotic and courageous rats.”
The former Minister was responding to Special Assistant to the President, Garba Shehu, who on Tuesday, revealed that buhari’s office was invaded by rodents.
Fani-Kayode had earlier given reasons why President buhari should resign without further delay.
Former Presidential aide, Reno Omokri carpeted the presidency over President Muhammadu buhari’s decision to work from home due to a rat invasion of his main office. Omokri didn’t buy the statement and urged Shehu to be ‘truthful’.
Omokri posted on Twitter;
“If President Muhammadu buhari is not strong enough to go to his office, Garba Shehu should say the truth and shame Satan rather than blame “rodents”! Only in Nigeria can a “rodent” chase a lion away from his den! Or is Garba Shehu referring to human rodents of the#ResumeorResign variety? Since AsoRock is a den of “rodents”, it’s my patriotic duty to warn the Presidency to proactively begin protecting Muhammadu buhari from Lassa Fever.”
Human rights lawyer, Mike Ozekhome (SAN) condemned the presidency for saying President Muhammadu buhari would work from home because rats invaded his office.
Ozekhome said buhari’s presidency carelessly disrespects Nigerians, describing it as the worst since amalgamation by Lord Lugard and his wife, Flora Shaw.
He said: “It is a very shameful and disgraceful statement that emanated from the presidency to the effect that PMB, after a whole 104 days abroad on medical grounds, cannot work from his office because of rats and rodents. So, a whole Julius Berger, the German construction giant has to be called in to drive them away and repaint the office!
This statement further derides and shames Nigeria as a country. Why didn’t the same, or similar rodents pursue Obasanjo, Yar’Adua, Jonathan during their presidency?
There is another mini office at the villa quite different from the official residence and main office. Let buhari work from there. Let’s see our president working, not through still photo shopping. For how long will this government take the Nigerian citizens for a ride and for robots?
Who told the image makers we are as brainless as they are? Don’t they know that lies have expiry date and that propaganda cannot substitute for image making? Goebel was a fantastic World War propagandist, but failed woefully as information minister …”.
Former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo, on Wednesday mocked president Buhari over what his SSA on Media & Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu said yesterday about his office and rat. According to dokubo, “It is a shame to Nigeria to report Buhari’s rat incident to BBC. They told us that the lion king is coming to chase out hyenas and other animals, little wonder did we know that rat took the challenge and chased him out of his office. When my friend told me that the rat incident was reported by BBC, I was ashamed of Nigeria”.
Nigeria’s weekly cabinet meeting – the first that President Muhammadu buhari was due to attend since returning from a three months medical leave in the UK – has also been cancelled, his special adviser Femi Adesina has said in a statement.
