NBA Playoffs: Pelicans Complete Blazers Sweep With 131-123 Game 4 Win

New Orleans, Louisiana,USA: The New Orleans Pelicans are moving on to the Western Conference semifinals after they completed their first series sweep in franchise history and got a combined 88 points from from stars Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday in the 131-123 NBA Playoffs game 4 clincher over the third-seeded Portland Trail Blazers – at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans on Saturday.

Behind 47 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks from Davis and 41 points and eight assists from Holiday, the New Orleans Pelicans won, 131-123, to sweep Portland and advance to almost certainly face the Golden State Warriors. It is the first time New Orleans advanced past the first round in a decade.

Anthony Davis’s 47 are the most points scored in a series-clinching win since Kobe Bryant scored 48 in 2001.

Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday became the 6th pair of teammates to each score 40+ points in the same NBAPlayoff game. The last teammates to reach that mark were LeBron James and Kyrie Irving in 2016. The first pair to do so were Jerry West and Elgin Baylor in 1962.

Jrue Holiday (41) and Anthony Davis (47) have the NBA record for most points scored in a playoff game as a duo (Elgin Baylor and Jerry West had 86.

Rajon Rondo nearly posted a triple-double by amassing seven points, 16 assists and seven rebounds.

The Portland Trail Blazers did their best to avoid getting swept. But it wasn’t good enough to beat Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday.

C.J. McCollum led the Blazers with 38 points, while Al-Farouq Aminu contributed 27. Damian Lillard (19 points) led the rest of the starters, who scored 117 of the team’s 123 points.

After taking a 58-56 lead into halftime, the Pelicans caught fire in a 42-point third quarter, and there was no lookng back.

New Orleans will play the winner of the Golden State Warriors vs. San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference semifinals. Currently, Golden State is up 3-0 on the Spurs and will advance to the second round with a win on Sunday.
