Principality of Monaco : AS Monaco football ( soccer ) club today announced the appointment of Nigeria’s Michael Emenalo – former Nigerian international player and former Chelsea FC Technical Director – as Sports Director. Michael Emenalo will be in charge of all the sports maters, under the direction of Vadim Vasilyev, Vice-President and General Manager.
In ten years with the Blues, during which the club won 3 league titles (2010, 2015, 2017), 3 French Cups (2009, 2010, 2012), the League Cup (2015), the League Europa (2013) and especially the Champions League (2012), Michael Emenalo made several missions before being promoted to Technical Director in 2011.
While in charge of recruitment, Michael Emenalo notably piloted the arrivals of Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois or N’Golo Kanté.
During his tenure, he also set up a detection and performance system that made the Chelsea Academy one of the most competitive in Europe (double winner of the Youth League 2015, 2016).
Connoisseur of the French and European market, Michael Emenalo will now put all his expertise at the service of AS Monaco.
