South Africa – Tragedy has once again struck the farming community, as once again there’s news of another death involving a farmer in Hartswater as revealed by Ismail Obaray MPL – who is the DA Northern Cape Provincial Spokesperson of Agriculture. He said the incident happened during the weekend.
Below is a press release from him:
The DA condemns the murder of 79-year-old farmer, Piet Jacobs, whose bound body was found on his plot in Hartswater on the weekend. Jacobs is one of at least twelve people who have lost their lives in farm murders that have taken place across the country since the beginning of February this year. During this same time frame, at least 30 farms countrywide have come under attack.
The cold-blooded killing of Jacobs once again emphasizes the urgent need to bring back rural-safety units.
Klein Piet, who lived with his father, said that he was out the night before the incident.
“I went out, but my father and I normally call each other during the early morning when I am not home. I received a call from his phone but the person on the other end hung up when I answered my phone. I then called back but my father’s cellphone was on voicemail. I rushed home and found him dead,”
