Pregnant Meghan Duchess of Sussex, has snubbed royal tradition by opting for a private maternity unit. The former U.S. actress will use a facility close to her Windsor home when she gives birth this month.
She has broken with four decades of Royal tradition by choosing the unit to have her first child near Frogmore Cottage.
To move comes to help avoid both press and public intrusion.
Markle has opted against the Lindo Wing where both the Duchess of Cambridge and Princess Diana gave birth.
The Paddington Hospital is famous and many royals have posed for a photograph outside the famous Lindo Wing after delivering a baby.
Sources claim that the Duchess of Sussex did not want to follow in Kate Middleton’s footsteps by having her baby at the same place.
The source added: “Harry and Meghan realize there is intense public interest but this baby is not a direct heir to the throne and they want the birth to be as private as possible.
“Meghan is nervous about complications such as an emergency Caesarean and doesn’t want the pressure of having to look immaculate on the hospital steps just hours later.”
She does not want to pose outside Paddington hospital for photographs after the birth opting for a private photo session instead.
Princess Anne was the first Royal to give birth in the Lindo Wing when her son Peter Phillips was born there in 1977.
The revelations of Meghan’s shunning of the hospital comes after Kensington Palace were forced to deny reports that she and Prince Harry were going to bring up their child “with a fluid approach to gender.
