Washinton, D.C., USA: Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa, closer Ken Giles, outfielder Carlos Beltran (now retired) and pitcher Francis Martes skipped the white house visit as the baseball World Series Champions Astros were honored by President Donald Trump, today, who spoke in the East Room while the team stood behind him. Trump said the team’s victory over the LA Dodgers in Game 7 was “one of the greatest baseball games anybody has ever seen.”
The team said both Correa, who is from Puerto Rico, and Giles had a family obligation. Carlos Beltran, who retired from baseball after the World Series victory, said he was disappointed in the government’s response to the hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico. Hurricane Maria made landfall in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Harvey hit Houston. The Trump administration has been criticized for its response to that natural disaster.
Francis Martes wasn’t on the playoff roster last year, but neither were Tony Kemp, A.J. Reed, Tyler White and James Hoyt, yet they all made the White House visit.
Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) predicted Sunday that President Trump’s alleged affair with adult film star Stormy Daniels will be his downfall if special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation isn’t.
“But this business about Stormy is not going to go away,” she told MSNBC. “If for some reason Mueller does not get him, Stormy will. So we know that this is going to go on.”
Trump has been critical of Rep. Maxine Waters, saying Saturday night at a rally that “she’s a low IQ individual.”
Trump allegedly had an affair with Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, more than a decade ago. His lawyer, Michael Cohen, paid her $130,000 just before the 2016 election as part of a nondisclosure agreement about the affair.
Five days after Donald Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, paid $130,000 to adult film star Stormy Daniels allegedly in exchange for her silence about a year-long affair with Trump, the company owned by Donald Trump billed his campaign a series of transactions that added up to exactly $129,999.72 — just 28 cents short of the payment made to Daniels.
The anomaly has gone viral online and raised questions about whether Trump’ s campaign received an illegal campaign contribution related to the alleged payment to Daniels. Trump’s longtime lawyer, Michael Cohen, has since admitted to making the payment to Daniels, but said it came from his own money and had no connection to Donald Trump’s campaign.
But there are now growing concerns that the payment to Stormy Daniels amounts to an illegal campaign contribution to Donald Trump. The nonpartisan watchdog group Common Cause made a complaint to the Justice Department and the Federal Election Commission claiming that the payment amounted to an in-kind donation to Donald Trump’s campaign, but was not reported.
And the White House this week appeared to inadvertently confirm that Trump was involved in a legal matter with Stormy Daniels, a sharp break from the denials that he was involved with the adult film star in any way. In a session with reporters, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders bragged that Trump had already won arbitration against Daniels.
Daniels has since filed a lawsuit alleging the nondisclosure agreement is invalid because Trump never signed it.
Daniels, 39, has more than 150 p*rn film credits to her name including starring roles in ‘Good Will Humping’ and ‘Operation Desert Stormy’.
Stormy Daniels today offered to return the $130,000 STFU money she received from Mr. Trump’s personal lawyer in 2016 – for agreeing not to discuss the relationship – in order to end the deal for her silence.
Meanwhile, officials in Texas are reportedly investigating the nondisclosure agreement signed by Stormy Daniels after it was revealed that the notary did not sign or date the document.
Texas notaries are required to sign and date agreements, as well as provide a certificate verifying those who sign documents.
However, notary Erica Jackson is now facing an investigation after she failed to do all three for the 2016 nondisclosure agreement regarding Daniels’s alleged affair with President Trump. Jackson’s stamp is on the document.
“Attaching your seal to a document without a notarial certificate constitutes good cause for the secretary of state to take action against your notary commission,” a Texas official said in a letter to Jackson, sent last week.
Erica Jackson said on Friday that she did not recall the specific agreement.
Texas secretary of state spokesman Sam Taylor said that the office was solely investigating “whether or not the individual complies with his or her duties as a notary public in the state of Texas.”
It’s unclear if Jackson’s missing signature or lack of certificate would impact the agreement.
